San Gabriel Valley

Our Mission

The mission of the Special Districts Association of San Gabriel Valley (SDASGV) is to unite special districts within the San Gabriel Valley to promote collaboration, education, and mutual support; strengthen communication and coordination among districts; and advance effective governance and advocacy in alignment with the mission and values of the California Special Districts Association. The Chapter exists to support special districts in fulfilling their public service responsibilities and delivering focused, accountable services that benefit their communities.

Our Chapter

The Special Districts Association of San Gabriel Valley (SDASGV) is a local affiliate of the California Special Districts Association (CSDA), formed to serve and support the diverse special districts operating throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Special districts play a vital role in California’s system of local government by providing specialized, community-focused services with a high degree of accountability and efficiency. While this structure allows districts to focus deeply on local priorities, it also requires intentional engagement with one another, the communities they serve, and traditional forms of government to ensure effective communication, collaboration, funding, and advocacy.

The purpose of the SDASGV is to support that engagement by creating a forum for collaboration, education, and shared problem-solving among special districts. The Chapter fosters communication and coordination, encourages the exchange of best practices, and supports professional development for district board members and staff. Through regular engagement, the Chapter helps reduce silos, strengthens regional partnerships, and amplifies the collective voice of special districts on issues of common concern.

In cooperation with and support of CSDA’s statewide mission, the Chapter works to promote good governance, enhance public awareness of the value of special districts, and support advocacy efforts that protect local control and ensure districts have access to the tools and resources needed to serve their communities effectively.
